A bit of folk and a bit of rock. Bitterroot debuts their first full-length album at The Wonder Ballroom.Cousins Colton and Foster Haney formed the band in 2009, which is now a five-person instrumental band. It’s hard to pinpoint a genre for Bitterroot. Being multi-talented musicians, the band incorporates folk, blues and rock into a single song, although the sound tends to lean a bit towards folk.
Anyone could get into Bitterroot’s music, even if folk isn’t a preference. At first, you’ll think that this is just another folk band, but then you hear the electric guitar and you’re suddenly listening to a blues rock band. Lauren Bikr’s voice is an incredible addition to the cousins’ vocals. The entire band has an impactful stage presence that adds to the musical energy.
The Valley of Peace is phenomenal. Bitterroot’s feel-good music will raise your spirits. The band is community driven, which you can feel in their track, “New Vision.” Going to a show is a must. Pick up a CD while you’re there.
